• Where ? in the “Pays de la Loire Region” in the West part of France. The doctoral student will be hosted in one of the 3 cities of the implemented partners Angers, Nantes, Le Mans.
• Who ? to researchers having a master’s degree in SSH/Health who didn’t spend more than a year in France during the past three years before the call.
• When ? The deadline for the online application is the 13th of March 2025. The doctoral student must start in September/October 2025

Doctoral position in geospatial information science with a technical and computer science focus [DEADLINE 15/04/2025]
The position is a doctoral position in geospatial information science with a technical and computer science focus.
The doctoral education includes the student writing a scientific synthesis thesis corresponding to 180 credits and completing courses of at least 60 credits. The person who receives the education position may also be allowed to work with teaching and administrative work comprising a maximum of 20% of full-time. Such service extends the employment period to the corresponding extent. The person accepted for an education position is expected to perform the majority of their work on campus and regularly participate in the academy's activities such as seminars and meetings.
Project description
The project in geographic artificial intelligence (GeoAI) focuses on AI methods for recognition, classification and analysis of geographic data such as aerial or satellite images, radar images, laser measurements or other data with spatial significance. Generative GeoAI creates new data for analysis and decision-making (e.g. maps, route plans, building plans, etc.) or as new training data for AI. Areas of application include critical sectors such as sustainable transport, agriculture and forestry, climate and environmental studies, and energy and urban planning. The research in the project studies how different factors affect GeoAI methods and the reliability of their results, to create a better understanding of the methods' possibilities and limitations. The successful candidate will contribute through design and case studies where AI-based methods are developed, adapted and evaluated in selected use cases.Qualifications
To be admitted to doctoral studies (Chapter 7, Sections 39-40 of the Higher Education Ordinance), the applicant must have the following basic qualifications:
- completed an advanced level degree
- have completed course requirements of at least 240 higher education credits, of which at least 60 higher education credits are at advanced level, or have acquired essentially equivalent knowledge in some other way within or outside the country.
To be admitted to doctoral studies in the subject of geospatial information science at the University of Gävle, the following is required according to the current general curriculum:
- at least 90 higher education credits in a field relevant to geospatial information science at undergraduate or advanced level, or equivalent, of which at least 15 higher education credits must consist of thesis work, or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way within or outside the country.
The eligibility must be met by the application deadline.
We are looking for candidates with:
- good ability to express oneself in English, both orally and in writing;
- relevant expertise in one or more subjects: artificial intelligence, machine learning, software development, geographic information systems, remote sensing and image analysis;
- personal qualities, such as high levels of independence, creativity and motivation, and structured approach to problem solving;
- excellent academic record;
Desirable/meritorious in other respects
Previous research experience in a related field is an advantage. Knowledge of Swedish or another Scandinavian language is also valued.
Information about admission and employmentOnly those who have been accepted to a doctoral program may be employed as a doctoral student. The total period of employment may not exceed four years of full-time doctoral education. An employed doctoral student may, to a limited extent (maximum 20%) perform certain tasks within, for example, education and administration. A new employment as a doctoral student is valid for a maximum of one year, and the employment may thereafter be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.

Our laboratory is looking for a candidate to apply to the BOURSE EIFFEL application. The PhD is due to start in October 2025.
The Eiffel Scholarship Programme is a tool developed by the Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs to help French higher education institutions attract the best foreign students for PhD courses.
It is designed to train future foreign decision-makers in the private and public sectors in priority fields of study and to encourage applications from foreign students aged 30 or under for Doctoral courses.
We are seeking a highly motivated, curious and proactive Doctoral Researcher who will become a part of research team. The Doctoral Researcher will work as part of a multidisciplinary team investigating resistance mechanisms in skin or bronchial tumors.

Project description
Your project is centered on characterizing nervous cells in non-small cell lung cancer and investigating their role in response to therapy. You will study the interactions between neurons and endothelial cells in the tumor microenvironment, looking at phenotypic changes in the cells involved. You will identify actionable, mechanism-based strategies to facilitate anti-tumor drug response. You will work with in vitro models (tumor, nervous and endothelial cell lines). You will perform spheroid and coculture models, flow cytometry, among other techniques. Additionally, you will participate in weekly lab meetings and journal clubs.
