Weimar Initiative (France/Poland/Germany)
The ‘Weimar Excellence Initiative’ aims to strengthen trilateral cooperation via the European University Alliances involving Germany, Poland and France by supporting the organisation of scientific colloquia and meetings of experts.
Deadline for the submission of applications: 14 July 2024
Time of the projects: November 2024 to November 2025
Objectives: Strengthening cooperation between France, Germany and Poland in the fields of research and innovation, in particular through the participation of research teams from the three countries in major projects at national or European level. The institutions of the three countries play a key role in the European University Alliances, which were launched following the French President's speech at the Sorbonne in 2017 and whose success and need for integration he emphasised in his second speech on Europe in April 2024. In this spirit, the ‘Weimar Excellence Initiative’ supports the organisation of events and meetings in Germany and Poland between the members and associated partners of a joint European University Alliance in order to multiply their scientific potential.
The aims of this programme are
- to support the European University Alliances in the implementation of their scientific co-operation strategies;
- strengthen co-operation between France, Germany and Poland in the fields of research and innovation
- bring national excellence initiatives closer together;
- promote networked research and support teams in designing structured co-operation and/or preparing the establishment of larger collaborative projects.
